TradeMutt Collaboration - The Big Smoke
Gasty collaborated with Australian workwear brand TradeMutt to create The Big Smoke, a bold graphic pattern inspired by city grit, construction sites, and the everyday energy of urban life.
This project marked his first time developing artwork specifically for a repeat pattern. He approached it like assembling a collection of illustrated “bricks”, individual shapes, characters and textures that the TradeMutt design team later arranged into a full pattern across shirts and accessories. It was a challenging and technical process, but also a rewarding creative exchange between artist and brand.
TradeMutt, known for its social-impact mission and eye-catching workwear, brought the concept to life with their signature style. The result is a playful, character-filled design that nods to tradies building skylines, dodging pigeons, and shaping the daily rhythm of the city.
Gasty worked closely with the TradeMutt team throughout the process, creating an artwork that blends his graphic, cartoons influenced style with the brand’s vibrant personality. The final piece sits proudly within their collection as a celebration of urban culture and the people who build it.
